Young People Shape Nature Vibes Through Photography and Drone Activities

Our first Nature Vibes session under the Active Futures partnership brought together outdoor photography, drone experiences and a proper co-design workshop, and the results told us more than we expected.

Young people spent the morning outdoors with cameras, getting to grips with framing a shot, working with natural light, and exploring green spaces close to home. The drone session, for many, was a genuine first: a chance to see familiar surroundings from a completely different angle, and to talk through how flying and filming actually works.

What made the day different was what came next. Rather than simply wrapping up, we built in a structured co-design workshop and feedback questionnaire, asking participants directly what they enjoyed, what got in the way of taking part, and what they’d like to see in future sessions.

The honest answers are already shaping how we plan Nature Vibes going forward: more photography, more drone time, and sessions that feel relaxed rather than pressured. It’s a small but important shift, from designing activities for young people to designing them with young people.
