Listening First: Young People Co-design the Future of Nature Vibes

At the end of March, we ran a dedicated Nature Vibes co-design and feedback session, built entirely around listening to the young people the programme is for.

The session opened with a welcome and icebreaker before moving into structured discussion: what activities participants enjoyed most, which locations worked best, and what they’d genuinely like to see more of. Young people voted on indoor versus outdoor session locations, gave direct feedback on the drone experience from our earlier Nature Vibes session, and worked through a short structured questionnaire designed to surface honest opinions rather than polite ones.

The findings were clear and consistent. Young people want more sessions, more opportunities to use cameras and drones, and an environment that feels relaxed and friendly rather than formal or pressured. Several participants specifically highlighted how much they valued simply being asked, rather than just being told what the next session would involve.

This kind of structured co-design is central to how Active Futures asks organisations like TOC to work, and we’re taking the feedback seriously. Expect to see it reflected directly in how future Nature Vibes sessions are planned, scheduled and delivered.
